CHIRLA was founded in 1986 after an act was passed in the state of California that barred employers from hiring undocumented workers. This act created a loophole that if left unchecked would lead to the violation of undocumented workers rights since they had no protection of the law.
The second human rights organization that will look at is the “ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project”. This is another group that is dedicated to protecting the civil and human rights of immigrants in the United States. ACLU completed its activities mainly through three criteria; litigation, advocacy, and outreach. They usually represent people who have been discriminated upon in the courts of law and demand that they be treated right according to the law of the land.
