Jose Henrique Borghi is one of the most influential forces in the media industry within Brazil. He is well known as the founder of Mullen Lowe Agency. Most of the campaigns he has taken part in have been successful and many people remember them up to this day. One of the remarkable campaigns was the Mammals of Parmalat where children dressed as stuffed animals and sang catchy jingles. His path to success was not a sure one as when he was young he was not certain of which career path to follow.
His entry into media and more so advertising can be attributed to his sister. While he was still in high school, she invited him to see a performance at the Castro Neves Theatre. Here, he saw a presentation of commercial videos that were awarded at Cannes. This inspired him to get into the Brazilian advertising industry. He proceeded to study at PUC Campinas where he studied advertising and propaganda.
Jose Borghi was employed in other companies before he started his own. This experience gave him the knowhow of how advertising needs to be done. He started the company from scratch with no investors to pitch in if there was a short of money. Erh Ray was his initial partner thus the agency was referred to as BorghiErh. As the company grew it was bought by Lowe leading to a change of name and division of presidency. The current name, Mullen Lowe, is due to the partnership between the Mullen group and Lowe and Partners and more information click here.
